Futureproofing Language Services is me, Nick Moon. I am a professional proofreader, language verifier and editor with over fifteen years' experience. What I do
I work flexibly, quickly and accurately to get the results you and your clients are looking for, and to ensure you feel you have a reliable partner in me.I am a professional proofreader, editor and language verifier. I lived for over five years in Turku, Finland, where I learned my trade and learned Finnish. I now specialise in working with words translated from Finnish and Swedish into English, or that have been written directly into English by a non-native speaker somewhere in Scandinavia or the Baltic States. Understanding the language and culture helps to anticipate what the writer wants to get across. I work with a broad range of texts, from forestry to mobile telecoms, from government policy to heavy machinery manufacture. As a freelancer, I partner primarily with translation companies in Finland, Sweden, Estonia and the UK, and I am the English language verifier for an international organisation based in Brussels. I also work with academic institutions and UK-based public and community & voluntary sector organisations, authors and publishing companies.I am happy working in any variant of English depending on the needs of the audience.
About me
I work from my home office in Marden, a village in Kent, UK. I lived, worked and studied in Finland and Germany for over seven years. I have also worked for ten years in policy development and programme delivery in local and central government in the UK. I've written a number of policy documents for the UK government, and I've helped deliver several social inclusion programmes with disadvantaged communities across Kent. I'm currently studying for an MSc in Coaching at the University of East London. I hold an MSc in Social Institutions & Public Policy from the University of Turku, Finland, and a BA in Social Policy & German from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK.
